MEET OUR CAPTAIN

Jarad Astin is a licensed 50-ton USCG captain and thus far has sailed over 50,000 nautical miles to the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Bahamas, and US aboard SV Catherine, a live-aboard sailing sloop with his wife and children from the Rockaways. In addition a Cpt. Astin works as a delivery Captain, operates small crane and barge rigs, aboard working tugs and more. Capt. Jarad is thrilled to have the opportunity to meet you and take you on a memorable sailing adventure in the stunning Jamaica Bay. His experience coupled with his knowledge of the local waters ensures that your time aboard will be both safe and enjoyable.

“Jarad and his first mate Arden sailed us from St Thomas to Cinnamon Bay on St John where we enjoyed some fantastic snorkeling! After a delicious lunch of homemade slaw and Cuban sandwiches we sailed a bit more to another beautiful snorkeling spot and then had a peaceful sail home with weather that could not have been more perfect! Christel was great at communicating and coordinating the trip for us. Truly a perfect day that ended with a beautiful rainbow! Can't wait to come back and do it again.”

“My family and I had such a great time on the water with Yacht Rock Charters.
